Meridian Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
TCM is based on the theory of vital energy, known as Qi, which flows through a network of pathways called meridians (Jing-Luo). These meridians form a transportation system that runs throughout the body, allowing Qi and blood to circulate and maintain overall health. When this network flows smoothly, the body stays in balance. However, if a meridian becomes blocked or the flow of Qi and blood is disrupted, various health issues may arise. Common symptoms of meridian blockage include sensations of heat or cold, pain, numbness, and swelling.
How Does TCM Treat
TCM works by stimulating specific acupoints on the body to unblock and regulate the meridians, allowing Qi and blood to flow freely. This helps restore the body's natural physiological functions, supporting both healing and overall wellbeing. Common TCM treatment methods include acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, Chinese herbal medicine, and Tuina (therapeutic massage).
What Will My First Visit Be Like
Your first visit begins with a detailed discussion of the main reason you're seeking treatment, followed by a comprehensive health history. In TCM, we consider your entire wellbeing to identify the root cause of your condition. Because TCM treats the whole person—not just the symptoms—a thorough intake is essential. During the consultation, the practitioner will also examine your tongue and check your pulse. These two key diagnostic tools provide valuable insights alongside your symptoms to guide an individualized treatment plan.
Where Will I Be Treated During a Home Visit
One of the great benefits of mobile acupuncture is receiving treatment in the comfort and privacy of your own home. The practitioner brings all necessary equipment to create a calm and relaxing treatment space, tailored to your needs.
Can I Make a Private Health Insurance Claim
Yes. HICAPS terminals are available for on-the-spot claiming with participating health funds. Alternatively, you will receive a tax invoice receipt, which you can use to make a claim manually. Most health funds offer rebates for our services, but we recommend checking with your provider to confirm your eligibility.
